Sandra Lawler, retiring at the end of June as organist at First Baptist Church, Sarasota, Fla., where she has served for over 30 years.

Karen Willes, retiring in August as minister of music at East Hill Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Fla., where she has served since 1972.

Jessica Piercy Godfrey, ordained to ministry on April 27 by First Baptist Church, Rutherfordton, N.C.

Martha Haigler, ordained to ministry on June 11 by Providence Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C.

Melissa Kessler, ordained to ministry by First Baptist Church, Kernersville, N.C., where she serves as pastoral intern, on June 22.

Brian Mullaney, ordained to ministry on June 1 by Main Street Baptist Church, Georgetown, Texas. 

Kris Roberts, ordained to ministry by First Baptist Church, Gainesville, Ga., on May 18.

Meredith Shaw, to be ordained to ministry on July 13 by Calvary Baptist Church, Lexington, Ky.

DEATHS

Esther Tye Perkins, 92, died May 23. She was the first Southern Baptist woman called as pastor in South Carolina. She was ordained in 1983 and called as pastor of Pine Bluff Baptist Church, Columbia, S.C. that same year. She later served Eason Memorial Baptist Church until her retirement in 2003. She is survived by her grandson and great-granddaughter.
